Venue: Shridhi Nasha Mukti Kendra, Indore

The Department of Forensic Science organized a series of educational visits for students across different semesters to provide practical exposure and enhance their academic understanding of forensic science and its allied fields. These visits were conducted over three days and included trips to the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL), Rau, Indore, and Shuddhi Rehabilitation Center. On the first and second days, students from B.Sc. VI Semester, B.Sc. IV Semester, and M.Sc. II Semester visited the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL), Rau, Indore. During these visits, students explored various specialized divisions such as Biology, Chemistry, and Toxicology. They gained valuable insights into the scientific examination and investigation of major criminal cases, including rape, murder, and assault. The exposure to real laboratory environments enabled students to understand the application of forensic techniques, evidence analysis, and standard operating procedures followed in criminal investigations. The visit significantly contributed to bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation in forensic science. On the third day, students of B.Sc. Forensic Science (First Year), with a total participation of 60 students, visited Shuddhi Rehabilitation Center. This visit focused on the psychological and behavioral aspects of substance abuse and rehabilitation. Students observed the functioning of the rehabilitation centre and gained insights into various treatment approaches, counselling techniques, and rehabilitation programs designed for individuals suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. Shri Virendra Sharma, Director of the centre, provided detailed information regarding the roles of psychologists, counsellors, and medical professionals in the recovery process. He emphasized the importance of psychological support, behavioural therapy, and the link between substance abuse and criminal behaviour. Additionally, Senior Psychologist Mr. Harshit Raghuvanshi conducted an interactive session, allowing students to engage with patients and understand real-life challenges associated with rehabilitation. These educational visits provided students with comprehensive exposure to both the scientific and psychological dimensions of forensic science. While the RFSL visits strengthened their understanding of forensic laboratory practices and criminal investigation techniques, the rehabilitation centre visit offered valuable insights into forensic psychology and the societal impact of substance abuse.
