Program Overview
The MSc in Forensic Science is a comprehensive two-year postgraduate program designed to equip students with the skills to apply for forensic science in criminal investigations.
This course encompasses essential topics such as crime scene investigation, forensic procedures, the interpretation of scientific evidence, and the development of forensic skills. Students will gain a thorough understanding of how to process and analyze evidence to support criminal justice processes effectively. Through practical and theoretical instruction, the forensic science program prepares graduates for professional roles in masters degree in forensics and criminal investigation.
Programme Outcomes (POs)
At the end of the M.Sc. Programme, graduates will be able to:
PO1
An ability to apply knowledge of sciences.
PO2
An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
PO3
An ability to design a system, component or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, criminal justice, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability and sustainability.
PO4
An ability to acquire required skills, formulate and solve practical problems.
PO5
An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)
The Programme Specific Outcomes are as follows:
PSO1
Forensic pathologists determine the time and cause of death in suspected murder or suicide cases through post-mortem examinations, identifying the manner of death such as accidental, suicidal, or homicidal.
PSO2
Develop expertise in DNA analysis, a critical component in crime-solving. While not every case results in a definitive outcome, DNA analysis provides vital evidence to assist investigations.
PSO3
Interpret scientific data from both the laboratory and crime scenes. Provide scientific input to support the criminal justice system using skills in spectroscopy, wet chemical methods, microscopy, molecular biotechnology, and solution preparation.
PSO4
Prepare students for roles in digital and computer forensics, equipping them with the ability to retrieve, analyze, and present data from digital devices as evidence in criminal trials.
