Dr. Shyam Kumar Birla is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Medi-Caps University, Indore. With over 16 years of academic and administrative experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the department. He earned his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the University Institute of Technology (UIT-RGPV), Bhopal, and completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from AcSIR – Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research, India, in association with CSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal (NIRF Rank 11 th in the Research Institutions category). His research expertise includes lightweight metallic materials, advanced manufacturing processes, and composite materials. Dr. Birla has been honored with prestigious awards, including the Binani Gold Medal from the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) in 2018 for the best paper published in Transactions of IIM, and the Best Publication Award during the CSIR-Platinum Jubilee Celebration in 2017 at CSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal. He has published more than 25 research papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals and conferences, including SCI and Scopus-indexed publications, and holds four patents granted by Intellectual Property India and author of one Book. He has held significant academic positions such as Head of the Department (Mechanical Engineering) and served as President of the Institute Innovation Council (IIC) at Oriental College of Technology, Bhopal. An active reviewer for leading SCI journals such as Materials Science & Engineering A, Materials & Design, Journal of Alloys and Compounds (Elsevier), Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, and Journal of Bio- and Tribo-Corrosion (Springer), He is an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (India) and the Tribology Society of India (TSI).
